Taking advantage of missclicks is lame

Maybe I’m being pedantic. I should start out by saying I agree with the sentiment and would personally allow takebacks if my opponent obviously just clicked the wrong square. It even happened to me last night!

All I meant was that since the misclick has already happened, it isn’t betting on luck to capitalize on it. A poor analogy is this: you’re behind on your rent payment and your plan to come up with the money is to hope you find a $100 bill on the street. That’s betting on luck. But now consider this: you’re behind on your rent money and decide to go sell your guitar (this is your pre-misclick strategy). Then you find a $100 bill on the ground. This is luck in this moment, but for you to decide not to sell your guitar because you no longer need to is not betting on luck, because the “luck” you’re relying on has already happened. You’re not betting on anything. Sure, in this scenario you could try to find the person who dropped the bill to return it, but you’re still not betting on luck by doing this.
