Okay, so this time, I'm not going to really try to convince you guys of anything like I tried with Rattata vs Saber. However, I'm gonna look at intriguing matchups in some rounds and compare the characters, and hopefully it'll be a fun writing experiment for me and a fun read for /r/anime.
Today we're gonna look at Haruhara Haruko vs. Psyduck! And if you think they have nothing in common, you're dead wrong! (they may have only a little bit in common, but hey, it's something) Haruko is the pink-haired motorcycle-riding, guitar-wielding mega badass, while Psyduck is a clumsy, confused yellow duck with a perpetual headache. But honestly? The shit they have in common, when you dig in deep for that weird kind of shit and maybe stretch it a little bit, is kinda surprising. So let's begin!
Introductions
Haruko begins by coming out of nowhere, running over Naota, kissing him to wake him up, then after a couple more ridiculous shenanigans, suddenly appears in his house. And then she immediately starts living with Naota in the same episode. This annoys the shit out of Naota throughout the show, although he seems to tolerate it at times. Fucking crazy, man.
Psyduck, though he doesn't actively screw with Misty in his debut episode, just kinda shows up out of nowhere. Then he captures himself. And then he immediately starts living with Misty in the same episode. This annoys the shit out of Misty throughout the show, although she seems to tolerate it at times. Fucking crazy, man.
Relationships
Naoto is annoyed by Haruko, but deep down, despite all she does, he does learn to love the crazy bitch.
Misty is annoyed by Psyduck, but deep down, despite all he does, she does learn to love the stupid duck.
GOOD KISSERS
Very early in FLCL, Haruko kisses Naota to wake him up. This is mostly played for comedy before they got on with the plot in the episode.
In episode 41 of Pokemon, Psyduck kisses a Snorlax to wake it up. This is mostly played for comedy before they got on with the plot in the episode.
(also their lips are puckered WAY bigger than the opposing mouth in each scene - the similarities are uncanny)

Haruko is introduced in episode 1. 5 episodes later, in episode 6, it's revealed that she's spoiler.
Psyduck is introduced in episode 27. 5 episodes later, in episode 32, it's revealed that spoiler

Headaches
Haruko and Psyduck both achieve their goals better when the headaches of a certain individual are greater. When Psyduck's headaches are stronger, he can fight better due to his psychic abilities enhanced. Haruko needs stronger headaches from Naota, as opposed to herself, so she can essentially spoiler.
So yeah, these are their overall similarities. Not that deep, but hey, the fact that they'd share anything is kinda weird to me and I just thought I'd share. Now go vote Haruko since she's still a better character than Psyduck.
