Things Discovery do better than any other Treks...

Don't gatekeep fandom. It really doesn't matter if someone's been a fan for half a year or half a century.

I've been a fan long enough to witness countless different rounds of "It's not Star Trek." It's not Trek if Roddenberry isn't at the helm. It's not Trek without Kirk and Spock. It's not Trek without an Enterprise. It's not really Star Trek if it's on a space station. It's not Trek without The Federation. It's not Trek if it's only movies (and this is of course leaving out all the bigoted nonsense reasons). Discovery isn't perfect; none of the series were. You don't have to like it. You can hate it. You can make a "conservative trek" bubble and pretend every bit of Star Trek you don't like doesn't exist. But when talk to other people, don't be surprised if they don't agree with your non-solicited proclamations of of "Real Trek" thinking your weathered autographed fan club membership means anything.
