Thinking of checking myself in...

I second this, definitely bring books because you will get bored and arguing over which movie to watch and doing puzzles all day gets really old after a few days. and if you smoke bring cigarettes, they only let the smokers outside. Making sandwiches became one of the most interesting parts of my day but trying to open the damn mustard packets made me blow a gasket nearly. I would actually disagree with some of the other comments here, if you want to lower your stress levels I would go to voluntary commitment. Some of the people in involuntary are going through some really tough shit and can just flip really unexpectedly and start screaming in the night breaking into other rooms etc , it’s not their fault at all a lot of them are schizophrenic and they need to be there to get better but if you want to be around people who having a hard time functioning but are less likely to have an outburst I would go to voluntary.
