To those who are VOLUNTARILY self-isolating: How long have you been doing it, to what extent, and how long could you keep it up voluntarily?

the tl/dr is that I'm findimg ways to amuse myself but also bored AF. Sadly I know I could do it for a looooong time though. This was my life back in the US before I left: unemployed and stuck inside.

So I'm doing ok so far. When I left the US in 2018 I had been unemployed for 1.5 years and I've basically reverted to my habits during that time. Instead of job applications I do art and labor intensive cooking projects. The rest of my time is spent gaming or browsing the internet.

I go to the supermarket and that's it. Just today I said no to a friend's plan, felt weird as fuck. But I mean come on, I got a drip coffee setup so I don't have to go to cafes anymore... I'm not gonna hang out at a bar. The most I do outside of shopping is late night motorcycle rides around Saigon.

...And to keep it 100% real I've also been smoking cambo all day... another facet of my past life. There's nothing else to do and it makes the games/cooking/YouTube more engrossing. Sigh

From a discrimination standpoint, I'm not afraid of going out when I need to, but that's mostly because I live in D7, so everywhere I shop is for expats/Koreans. The few local places on my street haven't treated me differently but that's because they know me and I speak a decent amount of Vietnamese.

Speaking of which I'm not some kind of linguistic god but when you can just tell someone in their language that you live here too and haven't gone anywhere for months, the "racism" suddenly disappears... so I wouldn't call it racism. It's just fear.
