It's truly disgusting how prevalent thinly veiled racism is on this sub.

White people keep leaving neighborhoods as black folks move in and it keeps the cycle going. If white people just stayed put and welcomed their neighbors of color a lot of this stuff would go away.

This is such a strange viewpoint, especially when you consider the incredible all-black neighborhoods that used to exist in the city's north side. St Louis Place & Jeff Vanderlou were some of the finest parts of the city at one point and it was an all black community. Now it's some of the worst. What is your rationale for blaming white people in the context of this once-great area completely self-imploding?

How are you going to blame the massive amount of "white people", aka Bosnians, who emigrated here as refugees from a war-torn country with almost nothing, completely built new lives and assimilated in south city where they more or less revived places like Bevo, who are now moving out of south city because it has gotten too bad for even for them? Do you just expect these people to deal with the worsening crime, because it's apparently racist to move? And you can claim it's "poverty" all you want, but i would consider emigrating from a warzone with very little possessions "poverty" and somehow the Bosnians were able to make improvements despite that.

Your comment comes off as absolving PoC for anything wrong they've done and as if non-PoC are responsible for their behavior. How does that make sense? Sure, we're all aware of red-lining and racial zoning laws and all the other racist housing policies that happened decades ago. But you can't blame these policies forever nor can you keep blaming "white people who move to safer communities" when they had nothing to do with racist policies of yesteryear.

If thousands of Bosnians came here with only the clothes on their back and were able to make a better life for themselves, what is stopping people who didn't lose everything in a warzone thousands of miles away?
