Turk Genocide in Al Madina

Yup, these videos take advantage of a tragedy to score political points. I don't like them. Hejazis screamed about this for decades and they were told to stay quite, but now that the subject matter is is of interest to the political class suddenly everyone is talking about it. And everyone has an opinion. Sadly not many people from around that time are still alive today, and of the few remaining, well, they were kids back then so they're not exactly the most reliable sources of information. I'm afraid that part of history isn't well documented from our side, the Ottomans tho (and later the turks) wrote extensively about it. About their side. So it's no surprise to see such a skewed yet blameless view of history such as the one you hold, or op holds.

I don't like to get into arguments online about this subject because quite frankly I don't really care what other Arabs believe, plus what I know and hold to be true comes from stories told by my grandparents (all 4 were living witnesse and both my grandands were actively involved for different sides), and thry are long gone by now, otherwise it would've been awesome to have them do an ama. But please let's just not say it didn't happen just because the Emirati and Saudi governments are using it as the flavour of the month. You're free to justify it or challenge any claims about it, and your certainly entitled to your own opinion, but outright denying that anything happened at all is a bit extreme. Furthermore, what happened in medina in the turn of the last century wasn't the worst thing to happen to hejazis by ottmans, not by a long shot. It just happened to be the most recent. But oh well, to the victor goes the spoils, and I guess that includes rewriting history.

/u/kerat you asked for books to read, check out مذكرات محمد زيدان وفايز الغصين both were eyewitnesses
