It's not that. What happens if Russia says they're cutting gas to countries that are a part of this war due to helping Ukraine ? Germany isn't just any other country. It's Europe's bank. There will be a recession inside. Europe will feel it too.

What's the point of hurting Europe, the ones that help Ukraine to a point where it might not be able to as it will be massively destabilized?

Millions across Europe will freeze. Summer is approaching, but what comes after that ? Businesses will feel it and the people will through the price increases that will follow, people will freeze in their homes due to lack of heating. Or will you pay the ever increasing electricity bills on top of everything else ? Gas heating is much cheaper.
