/u/magic_fingers gives a comparison of the problem of homelessness in Vancouver and Seattle

I always try to imagine myself getting in some sort of situation or having to endure some circumstance that requires me to resort to tent living. I’m curious though, what exactly are these people to do to get themselves out of the situation? I read what the guy said, landlords raising rent beyond what can be paid. But can you not just move to a cheaper area? Can you get a loan to pay for a move if you can’t afford it straight off the bat? And if you’re already living in a tent city, do you have access to running water where you can clean yourself and your clothes in order to get and maintain a job? Are there even jobs in demand in the area? I agree that drug use and addiction are a huge factor because most employment places drug test, but couldn’t they just like, choose not to drug test?
