Fooling committed ideologues is really not that hard as long as you don't act like a moron and try to trumpet some radical material or poke the eyes of gatekeepers. You play it quiet, use the right unthreatening language, formally adopt the mainstream assumptions that don't really matter to the work anyway, don't draw attention to any unsettling implications of your work, etc, and reviewers won't even notice half the time. You don't have to give any more shits when you get tenure, or if you work somewhere with more academic freedom.

I am insulted you think I'd be dumb enough to just try and write ANARCHY NOW on a few thesis chapters. Yo, our current crop of elites and gatekeepers are dumb as hell and actually believe their own propaganda, which is why they keep failing at almost everything. The whole point of the part of the PhD before writing a thesis is to learn how to mimic how people speak and write in order to blend in with them. You should have seen some of the answers I gave in my qualifiers; I had to stifle a few laughs before handing it in.
