So I just recently have been playing around with Jupiter with my 150/1200 reflector and asi120mc. The dob isn’t perfect, but it has certainly been workable. The problem is really just the jerkiness of the dob. Ive tried bar soap which did help quite a bit, but still wasnt quite enough to hold it steady. It was close, but anytime i jerk Jupiter out of frame, it can take some time to get it back.

My question is, are there any eq mounts (non electronic) or alt az mounts that would work for the 150/1200? The Meade LX70 seems nice, but I’m a bit more worried about the length of this scope more so than the weight (Sky Watcher has the OTA listed as 15, unsure if thats pounds or what). I can look into building one. I do have access to the tools needed but I’m just not great (however, im sure i can get help)

A week ago I would have said it wasn’t even worth it try with this scope and camera, but i have been pleasantly surprised with how my first 2 tries have turned out!
