Weekly /r/SonyAlpha 'Ask Anything About Gear' Thread

I'm looking to buy an A7iii, upgrading from an 80d that I've borrowed for a few months.

My main initial focus will be on family shots/portraits. I've been using the Canon 50mm 1.8 on my 80D (which works out at 85 after crop factor). I really like the results but I've found it hard to work with indoors or in tighter spaces sometimes so was looking at the Sony 50mm 1.8 as my primary lens for that purpose. Is that sensible or should I try and stretch my money to something better?

Beyond that, I'd like a lens on a budget that's flexible enough to let me try my hand at some landscape, street and potentially macro photography. Is that even possible on a single lens? If not, I can drop the macro for now. I'm a beginner and trying not to spend too much or buy too many pieces of kit.

Thanks!
