From Sony's press release:

To maximize convenience in image transfer, when utilizing the latest version of Sony’s Imaging Edge Mobile™ application, the camera can now transfer images to a connected smartphone even if the camera’s power is set to OFF.

Does that sound... terrifying to anyone else? The camera is now listening on the network and Sony's questionable track record of software security is now potentially exploitable even when the camera is supposedly powered down?

Or do they just mean that their desktop application can transfer images to their mobile application even without the camera as an intermediary? That would certainly be less alarming, but the phrasing of the press release is rather unclear.
