Weekly /r/SonyAlpha 'Ask Anything About Gear' Thread - December 24, 2018

1- As new bodies have been announced in the past, has there been a trend of immediately reducing the price of older generations (ex: a7siii causes a price reduction of the a7sii and a7s)?

2- Similarly, as a new body gets announced has there been a trend of reducing the price of other bodies in the same or older generation (ex: a7siii causes a price reduction of the a7iii or a7rii)?

speculation The a7ii has been sitting steady at $898 all through November and December making me think the price won't go up in January. I also read rumors of something like an a7000 or a7siii being announced in January. If that's all the case, it seems like Sony would also want to reduce some (not all) price points of the current line up in order to reduce "gaps" in cost, and attract new customers with budget constraints. Anyone have other thoughts? I don't really feel like I need to upgrade from my a6000, I still have a lot to learn, but I've been wanting to get the a7iii for a while. I'll probably go for the upgrade in the spring, just crossing my fingers I don't buy it right before a price drop.
