Weekly /r/SonyAlpha 'Ask Anything About Gear' Thread - May 13, 2019

Please help me, I... definitely need the help.

Background: I'm a former Nikon (D5300 and D750) and Fuji (X-T2) shooter. I started out on the D5300, when I upgraded got the D750 but found it was just too big still (incl. lenses). Returned it and bought the Fuji X-T2, but I just took it on a trip to New York and was pretty unhappy with the low-light performance even on some speedy lenses, even though the ergonomics and dials are great.

I am pretty sure I am going to get a Sony a7iii. It seems to have what I need - here are the categories that matter most for me, in order, even if its an insane wishlist:

- Portability

- Dynamic Range

- Low-light performance

- Resolution

However, the lens question is an issue (given my important factors). I shoot a lot of wide-angle landscapes, cityscapes/street photography, and some portraits. I also experiment a bit with telephoto landscape/street shots for the compression effect, while this is fun this is certainly less crucial.

Given that, and my portability desires, I'm looking at a 3-lens kit really at most. I want to cover pretty wide (~15mm, looking at the Voigtlander), something that's good for travel (24/28-70/85/105 zoom, or a 35 or 50 prime), and a portrait lens. But I'm open to different ways to interpret this (for example, wide zoom + 50/85 primes, or any 2 lens combos).

With all of this in mind, portability is really most important. I want to be able to one-hand the camera pretty easily (I had no problem with my Fuji X-T2 and my ~650g telephoto lens, but that's probably near the limit of where I'd go). My budget is around $4,500 for the whole set-up (including the a7iii itself).

Please let me know what lenses / lens kits you would recommend! Thank you SO much in advance!
