For All the Lefty Trolls!

I don't see any contradiction between expanding the scope of what women can do any maintaining their right to do what is traditionally feminine. This is the whole point of breaking down gender boundaries - to allow women (and men) to take on whatever roles they want, regardless of gender. This means respecting all of what people do, "masculine" or "feminine", without the labels.

But once more, nowhere in this quote does Nina Simone disparage the traditionally feminine - she is just asserting that politics and revolution are the business of women. Does she say women can't wear makeup? No. Does she say women shouldn't bear children, raise them, love their husbands, devote their lives to their family, etc.? No. All she says is that women should participate in revolution. Which, fuck yeah, they should. She's not asking women to put down anything else they're doing, she's just claiming access to the space of politics.

If you are reading this as an attack on traditional feminine roles, please tell me why.
