For 6 years I owned a boat in a marina that was 10min from where my mom / dad parked their RV every summer. I was up there every other weekend either solo or with friends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I'd always stop in, say hi, hang out, eat dinner. I'd bring friends or my girlfriends with me. Camp fire every now and again. Take them out on the boat once a month at least.

I have a much younger gal-pal that I MTB with - She is a momma's girl 100% and admits it. 33, single, annual road trip to get drunk and stoned together. I think some of it is that her mom is very well off and she, herself, is a little bit of a floater. But it's family and you need to cultivate something while you can.
