Postmedia is publicly traded and largely held by American hedge funds, it's their MO to cut expenses to the bone and raise revenue by any means possible until there's nothing left.
Really sad to see what the site has become, other than Mr. Carmichael's reporting on courthouse proceedings there's really not much there to read.
Toronto Star has gone hard paywall and around the same time drastically increased the amount of clickbait, headlines asking a question that never gets answered in the stories, and/or essentially stolen from Reddit content... Sudbury Star isn't even doing that (at least not yet)...
At least there's still CBC and Sudbury.com
