So, on top of everyone in the town staring at me, the local police force is made up of 17 year old hungry kinds with AK-47s. I was told if they chose to arrest me that I should just let them do it or pay a bribe. The alternative was being shot. I honestly think I was mostly left alone because myself and my travel partner were taller and significantly larger than anyone we saw or met there. I can’t say for sure if that made a difference, but everyone in Chad is short and skinny.

Lastly while I didn’t see this happen, but only a couple days after I left the country a Muslim extremist suicide bomber exploded outside the hotel I had been staying in. I have since vowed to never go back.
