What do you all think of this system?

I think whoever produces something should be able to sell it to whoever is willing to buy, with full autonomy over what they produce. When the labor of the worker becomes planned to suit the needs of the people, the laborer becomes the slave of the people, and to me, that simply won’t do.

I understand this is not much worse than a market in many cases because laborers must soullessly fulfill market demands to get along but I think there are many cases where this does make a meaningful difference.

For example, art.

It’s a belief of mine that art is a form of communication; people put expression into a thing and it is bought with no dependency, just out of appreciation for the expression. There is no inherent value to art, only the value people give it and believe it has. Thus, the only way to price art fairly is through mutual individual agreement from both parties, if the price is to reflect the value. The price will reflect the value they subjectively think it has, and to me that is fair. The planning of either the prices or production of art would be an afront to the artist’s ability to get the true value of their labor.

I don’t think I could ever justify taking art off the market. So I’m not a big fan of abolishing the market.
