What is the best bang for your buck handheld emulator?

It really depends on your definition of "bang".

Do you want the best experience out of the box? Then you probably want to buy from someone who pre-installs custom firmware (like we do).

Do you want something that's ultimately pocketable? Then the Miyoo Mini or Anbernic RG280V would suit you well. Both of these will emulate all the way up to the PlayStation. It may be difficult to find the Miyoo Mini - there's incredibly high demand (we're currently out of stock).

If you're most interested in emulating GBA, then the Anbernic RG351P has the perfect screen aspect ratio.

Do you want the premium feel and durability of an aluminium shell? Then the Anbernic RG351M or RG351MP will suit you well. The MP has a 4:3 screen aspect ratio that suits most retro systems.

The Anbernic RG351 series can handle some N64, Dreamcast, and PSP games.

Do you want the same power as the Anbernic RG351 series, but with more screen real estate, a 16:9 widescreen, and an ergonomic design? Then the PowKiddy RGB10 Max 2 is a great choice.

The Anbernic RG503 gives you the same screen size as the PowKiddy RGB10 Max 2, but with even more power, and a beautiful OLED screen. This will handle just about any N64 game (even Goldeneye) and is great for PSP gaming (see our repository of optimized settings). The ergonomics aren't quite as good as the PowKiddy device.

The Anbernic RG353 series give you the same power as the RG503, but with a 4:3 screen aspect ratio.

If you want to emulate all the way up to the likes of the Switch, then you'll be looking at the likes of the Steam Deck; but you'll be throwing a lot of bucks at it.
