What’s a game idea that everyone loves in theory but hates in practice?

I don't disagree with these shortcomings at all. To many players, these are big issues.

But to many other players, they're not. And Aion for example was a massive success in parts of the asian market, and is considered a classic for a lot of people. The fact that many games failed is a reality to all types of games. Of course, that doesn't mean all of these players find their games perfect, just like WoW players would not say the same thing about their favourite game.

I just don't agree with the whole sentiment of "It doesn't work at all", it ignores all those players that actively play & enjoy these types of games. Being niche doesn't imply being non-functional.
