Is team based aspect of games like Dota 2, LoL or Overwatch fundamentally flawed?

That is a progressive insight on shifting focus away from the individual for team games. It really highlights how ridiculous the current system is. Actually assbackwards to have a 'clan' aspect in a 1v1 fighting game and not in a 5v5 game where teamwork determines the outcome.

It might mitigate the player on player hate by taking emphasis away from 'my rank' and making it 'our rank'. But that will also spawn a lot of elitism. You'll have a lot of politics and 'better than you' type egos emerging. Which is fine, that is a lot more interesting anyways.

I have seen players try to form clans with third party methods, but without a formalized system it is a barrier to a snowball effect.
