what’s so great abt lana

In 2011 her song Video Games went viral, a long, slow, love ballad. It was during a time when EDM and hyper pop songs were topping the charts. She was something different, fresh and sung about a lot of themes that weren’t popular in mainstream music at the time. I think that’s what got her a cult following (mainly younger and sad women/girls). She may not seem that special to you if you’ve only just discovered her music because so many popular artists now sound similar. But that’s mainly because of Lana. Billie Ellish, Olivia Rodrigo and even Taylor Swift have admitted to being heavily inspired by her music. She opened up the floodgates to sad alt-pop music. She took the brunt force of criticism in her early days for singing about death and other controversial themes. She’s an amazing lyricist and story teller as-well.

That got longer than I intended but i hope I explained a bit of her appeal. I think alot of people are over the top obsessed because she has so much material to always talk about and listen to. 9 released albums, a poetry book, 2 unreleased albums and hundreds of unreleased/leaked songs.
