I hold the unpopular opinion that 2 has the worst gameplay in the series, for many reasons.

-Withered Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica + Toy Freddy all have the same bullshit perfect timing mechanic that is extremely hard to get used to. It is way too precise and extremely unforgiving. Withered Golden Freddy is also this with the addition of making it harder to flash Withered Foxy.

-Toy Bonnie and Chica, Mangle and Balloon Boy don’t mesh with this at all due to having different “go away” times from the timing-based ones and from each other, ESPECIALLY Toy Bonnie, meaning you need to have the mask on forever after putting your monitor down

-Balloon Boy is funny and I like the idea of an enemy who doesn’t kill but hinders you, but the mechanic is bullshit and basically an extended game over. Compared to Freddy’s song in the first game, which is usually towards the end of the night and gives you one final chance to clear the night, BB can show up at any time and if you mess up the timing, you’re dead. It would truly make no difference if he just killed you unless you’re seconds away from 6AM because of how often Foxy shows up. It should have either been temporary or he disables the lights periodically, to give you an incentive to keep him out but still give you a chance if you mess up.

-Withered Foxy is the only mechanic I like and even then he shows up way too often and is hampered by how long wearing the mask is. I also don’t like that he doesn’t immediately leave when flashed enough and you just have to hope he leaves.

-I HATE THE PUPPET. “Hey, did you want to see where everyone else is? Too bad, stay on this cam.” I get that Scott needed to force you to use the monitor, but a mechanic that makes it so you can’t use any other cams, you have to spend forever dealing with and one that requires extreme timing and planning to wind, because if you mess up once then Foxy leaps at you or someone else murders you, not helped by, again, the amount of time you have to spend wearing the mask.

-Sometimes the game decides you lose. Toy Bonnie in the office? Better keep the mask on. Oh no, you weren’t able to wind the music box! Game over. Is Foxy in the hall but Mangle’s in the vent? Better hope that you can flash Foxy in time or hope that a angle doesn’t take forever to leave. It is frustrating and infuriating. It goes from “HOLY SHIT HE’S IN MY FACE” to “FUCKING GO AWAY BONNIE”
