Which of the typical playable races would you consider the weakest mechanically?

It's from Tasha's, Have fun! Do whatever you want, go be the Arnold Schwarzenegger of halflings that is actually on the small end of size medium rather than small.

My point is either races should have to be defined by what they are or not - I hate the inconsistency that some races are locked into what they are while others get to play by Variant rules. If Variant Tiefling just gets to be whatever stat it wants, it defeats the purpose of what Fire Genasi is - one of the few races that actually has the Int/Con ASIs. No doi its weak when you can mold whatever to whatever you want to be the same as it +more.

I would rather play at a table that bans either variant rules or just throws out Custom Lineage to everyone. Either is fine, but at least both sets are consistent.
