Yes, I now totally despise time travels that rehash canon stations. Luckily, there are many good time travel fics that simply throw out the 'time lines':
A Little Child Shall Lead Them, linkffn(10871795): How Hermione back to Marauder Era should have worked, and there was a twist.
Amalgum - Lockhart's Folly, linkffn(11913447): Harry got back in Lockhart's body. Hilarity ensued, he was a too tough on Ron, but what he did with Bellatrix was nice, and the final battle, LOL!
Delenda Est, linkffn(5511855): By teaming up with Bellatrix, there was no time line to keep.
Don't Waste It, linkffn(8669569): One shot only, but this is how Wormtail's 2nd chance should have looked like.
Doubting Thomas, linkffn(5492188): Tom still couldn't escape the fate of becoming a dark lord, but at least Luna was guiding and helping him. Beautifully written one-shot.
Ginny Returns, linkffn(4740107): Ginny returned to her first year, and fixed things efficiently and almost painlessly.
Many Thanks, linkffn(4692717): Another Hermione to Marauder Era, but from James' POV. Very nicely written.
Returning to the Start, linkffn(10687059): As the summary said, Harry killed all of them again. This fic is not so much about taking down Voldemort and Death Eaters, but about the 2nd Hermione helping Harry to overcome this trauma.
Reunion, linkffn(4655545): Harry, Hermione, Luna, and Susan all became prolific killers after the War. When Hermione found a 2nd chance, they got immediately back to work. Dark humors.
Spectrum, linkffn(9561455): Another one-shot, but this Hermione killed Tom and his future followers.
The Greatest Minister of Magic, linkffn(4487319): Fudge time travel, and the fic shows him very much in character.
The Moment It Began, linkffn(3735743): Snape got his 2nd chance after Nagini's bite. He tried to fix things, but he didn't know too much about Horcruxes.
We are the Golden Trio!, linkffn(7405516): Great plot, but lousy writing with too many grammar and spelling errors. Still, I like it a lot better than those frustrating canon rehashes.
