WiZ’s inexpensive smart lights now work with Apple Home thanks to Matter

I bought a halo retrofit down light https://www.cooperlighting.com/global/brands/halo/9866215/rl-smart-wi-fi-recessed-led-trims-wiz-pro/rl56069wzrgbwwhr back on February 24. It was only a few bucks more than the non-smart version and I figured I could at least set the temperature and brightness using Bluetooth on my phone. I've got a bunch of halo 4" disc down lights in the kitchen and even trimming the max voltage on my cassetta dimmer, they are too bright at full brightness.

I'm not sure if this is new, but to me surprise, I was able to link the wiz halo light to HomeKit when I installed it. And to google. And the Lutron app.

Definite worth the $2-3 extra, but I did have to put it into my guest Wi-Fi (which is 2.4ghz). That's when it started working, and I haven't tried to go back to the mixed frequency network
