Women being allowed in bars - Australia (1974)

It's interesting to see how many people in the comments haven't considered this. Times have obviously changed, but I think any guy knows what's it's like when another guy suddenly brings his gf or wife into a space reserved for "the boys". The dynamic is just different. Guys instantly start acting more reserved, a little more aggressive, or just sort of withdrawn. It's okay to have spaces where you can be yourself around people who get you. Also, notice how in the video when old dude with the glasses is talking the interviewer questions his sexuality in a snide way, by saying "Oh, so you prefer that it was man sitting here next to you instead of me"

Immediately he tries to unnecessarily save face by wrapping his arm around her. It's the subtle stuff like that that further drives home the point. Sometimes dudes just want to have a place to just be dudes. No posturing, trying to reaffirm their masculinity or whatever. Just chilling and shooting the shit.
