Why would GM do Layoffs

Like the other guy said, they’re cheaper.

We’ve been told in IT, that they believe college hires will bring a “fresh new culture to GM” for the better. They’re “doubling down on this investment”

If they’re actively doubling down on this, then it’s clear GM want this to be a cyclical thing. Where they hire cheap college kids. “Train” them until they cost too much then lay them off. Just to repeat with the next batch of college kids.

As a side note, everyone knows the issues with this. Where the experienced people who stay now have more work on their hands and have to train the next batch of college kids. The college kids don’t know crap coming in. It’s not sustainable. From a spreadsheet/executives who don’t do any actual work it makes sense. Cheaper labor = better. But if they really are trying to be the best in the EV market then they’re dumb lol
