Wwise 101 course opinions

I am currently working in AAA as a sound designer. We use Fmod. I don't know of there are certs for Fmod. I have gotten my Wwise 101 and 201 certs, along with a Pro tools 310M cert. (That requires someone to watch you do things in Pro Tools with a stop watch timing you.)

I can tell you know one really cares that much about your certs. when it comes to the final hiring manager. Some studios hire contractors via vendor services and the recruiters from the vendor services will notice you more likely notice you if you say you have the certs, but if that is all you show, that won't get you a real interview.

The materials the certs teach are super useful. Take what you have learned to make a kick-ass portfolio piece with your sounds. Go into game jams and try to force your team to use Wwise or Fmod and use what you learned from the 101 to make a game. You will fail a couple a couple of times but it will show of many of the skills that the cert teaches in action and used in a practical manner.

My advice in general with audio related work is to network and show you are eager. The skills you get from your hard work will show when it is time to shine and you will do fine.
