I don't think the issue is wanting to control or keep anyone from talking to or about themselves in whatever way they want. It's expecting the rest of the world to have some deep, emotional caring about all this. Sorry bro, or not bro, or whatever, I have stuff to do and I'm just not interested in being interested one way or another in what the cat people, or dog people, or wheelbarrow tire people are doing. It's not in my world in any way and I don't foresee a time in the future when it will be. Yeah, if you work at some shitty nonprofit or university, you might have to tow this line, but I can promise you that no attorney will ever walk into court and ask the judge to refer to them by catgender.
