Zlatan Ibrahimovic speaking about the cost for children to play football in USA.

So the figure he provides for his daughter to play for a 'good' football team is not comparable to the groundlevel basic 'house league' stuff that is out there.

The government does not spend a bunch of money on soccer in the US and Canada, and also there aren't old established neighbourhood 'clubs' that have strong ties to regions and sponsors etc... most of these clubs in Canada at least are run by mostly volunteers, it's not some capitalist hell-hole it's just that the government and these community organizations do not exist to pay for children to play. So parents have to foot the bill themselves.

There are a bunch of charities out there that will cover the costs, but obviously Zlatan does not qualify to have his children covered. Also, these charities might not pay to have children enrolled in the most elite programs which clearly his daughter is. I'm guessing he's not having his daughter play on a random gravel field somewhere.

The US/Canada don't produce soccer talent not because of some capitalist nightmare system where only rich kids can afford to play sports, it's just that the public money is spent elsewhere, spread around multiple sports, and big clubs with money to throw at academies and super old neighbourhood clubs with serious ties to the community don't exist.
