Howard is eccentric and she like the way he handled himself and emotions, Hints, why her mom took her away from him and moved to chicago. He kept all the books and clothes because he misses his daughter.

If THIS is true, HOW was their a lock on the INSIDE of the exit latch?? It is IMPOSSIBLE that howard could lock the hatch from the inside and then crawl thru the vents back to the main area of the shelter, but SOMEONE HAD to lock it , and crawl back through the vents. and my guess is EMMIT did such a thing.

If true, why didn't Howard rape Michelle. the only thing he technically did is provide for her and keep her safe. Like I said Howard is Very weird and unorthodox. Idk how to really describe his mental state but i think we can agree that it is abnormal. He doesn't really know how to express himself. (he doesn't know how to express his anger and frustration, like when he yells at Michelle for feeling disrespected)
