[Thor: Ragnarok] On Lightning

Asgardians have always been an alien species playing out a predetermined cyclical destiny. They are regarded as gods from the perspective of humanity. Due to their amazingly long lives, great feats, and frequent interactions with humanity.

Each Asgardian has unique qualities, Thor's is specifically the manipulation of Lightning, and Thunder, (sometimes rain/storms when mjolnir is involved.)

The full quote:

Loki: [mockingly comes to attention before Odin and laughs] I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

Odin: Do you not truly feel the gravity of your crimes? Wherever you go there is war, ruin and death!

Loki: I went down to Midgard to rule the people of Earth as a benevolent God, just like you.

Odin: We are not gods! We're born, we live, we die, just as humans do.

Loki: Give or take five thousand years.

Odin is attempting to combat the hubris being demonstrated by his son(s). It is okay to recognize that you are more capable, or powerful than humans. That you for most examples are greater than them... but you are not better than them.
