[Activism] any tips for someone trying to start up a (Marxist) youth organisation with the goal for political activism?

From one disenfranchised youth to another, don't underestimate our revolutionary potential. We have, by far, the most keen senses of any Marxist. We know, first hand, what the bottom is like. We grew up with the fallacies and contradictions playing out right before our eyes. Every time we were sick but couldn't visit a doctor, every time the weekly budget was limited to dollar noodles because utilities and rent were too high. Every time a pack of cigarettes was prioritised over lunch. Every time a mate had to go through withdrawals alone because the clinics couldn't fit him in. Every time we let a tooth rot because we can't afford a dentist. Every time we got piss-drunk because we felt freer while fucked up than we did while sober.

We saw all of that, while the politicians, the middle-class and the rich waxed on about fairness and social mobility. Every time they told us we were to blame, even though there aren't enough jobs.

In us exists the ultimate proof of capitalisms failures. The working poor, I believe, have the potential to be some of the most militant members of the working class.

As I grew older the only thing I lacked was the empowerment of knowledge. And that is what Marxism was for me. My lifetime's worth of experience was validated in Marxism. Not only validated, but explained in concrete terms. None of that middle-class ideological "be the change" bullshit. It gave us facts. And through those facts a path to liberation.

Don't get me wrong, the hard sell doesn't work for me people like you and me. But if you can get kids to listen to the Marxist explanation of capitalism - even in introductory, simplistic, terms - you can inspire so much.

Learning was always a central part of my life. But I learned more in Marxism than I had in the 19 years leading up to my becoming a Marxist. Today I am 28. I am no longer defeated by the poverty of my life. I am empowered by it. My intimate knowledge of the reality gives me a hypodermic needle to get straight to the vein of workers.

All it took to get me here was a group discussion on Marxism and Capitalism. In an hour, every experience I had was made cohesive.

In earnest, I wish I could be where you are to help you in your effort. But sincerely, good luck. Don't be afraid to engage them in group discussions and reading groups. Remember you aren't talking down to them. You'll be inspiring them.
