Agree?

Load of crap.

I'm from an old IIT. Non circuital branch. I'm 28 y.o. and I earn 80L-90L P.A. (depending upon stock price) and I generally work less than 30 hours a week from home (software development, managerial position). Not even including the money I passively make from day trading, Brilliant, YouTube, PlayStore etc which adds almost 20-30% of my salary.

Most of my colleagues make around the same. Most make 50 LPA+ (if they are the hard working type, and mostly they are) average by the time they are 30. The guy who had the lowest GPA and couldn't get placed is earning 25 LPA+ teaching in a coaching center.

And I have 8-9 members of my family, including my father, grandfather and 2 of my 1st cousins who are doctors from colleges such as KGMU, KMC, CMC Vellore, RG Kar etc and even my dad earns kinda lesser than me (CMO in a super speciality in a metro). And him working 70-80 hours a week isn't unusual. Same with others. On the other hand, my grandpa was a surgeon who owned his own practice and did the same surgery (Not very clear on the details as he died when I was a kid and didn't really talk about him much) for 10-12 hours a day and earned a ton but my dad used to say that he severely hated it and wouldn't do it if it weren't for the money.

By the time y'all graduate from MBBS, IITians (and good engineers in general) have exponential growth in their careers and hence, salary just because of the absurd amount of time it takes a med student to actually start his/her practice and how much an engineers salary can increase in their 20s. And that's a fact that's commonplace knowledge. So stop your uninformed view when you only know one side of the story.
