Alien:Out of the shadows thoughts?

Out of the Shadows is a lot like Isolation in that regard.

Being directly connected to Ripley is the biggest weakness in its story. As a stand alone with its own characters and a rogue AI, Out of the Shadows would have been a fun Alien story. Having it end with a campy "mind wipe" was just silly.

Same with Isolation. Shoehorning in Amanda Ripley was pointless. The protagonist could have literally been anyone, and could still have come across the Nostromo tapes and the conspiracy. Deciding to retcon Amanda Ripley from a woman who just grew old and died while Ripley was gone was totally unnecessary.

That's my one hope for these new Alien series and movie. That they will be totally unrelated to Ripley. Though the TV show being a prequel set on Earth is almost certainly a bad sign.
