I’ve grown fond of it though, it’s still long enough to do setpiece, yet is short enough that it forces you to keep your jokes succinct.

I’m still not exactly convinced that the British won militarily against the Malayan Emergency. They “won” politically by giving the BN promises of Independence. It’s not that much of a win though, they didn’t get to keep Malaya territorially, but they got to keep their political, and business interest in the region. A small win in the Cold War context.
