I have always shaved in the past, not because I wanted too, but because I hated the creepy men that would ask me if the carpet matched the drapes

Sorry maybe you misunderstood what I was saying. I was talking figuratively, definitely not excusing the behaviour. Without thinking men often say things they shouldn't just because they tend to be led by their desires (They often say even worst when in what they think is a safe all male environment). Most young men have trouble overcoming this but as you age you learn respect and control of what comes out of your mouth. I cringe at some of the conversations I've had in my youth and wouldn't dream of saying the same these days. The fact was I just didn't stop to think what affect my words had on the recipient back then. Luckily most of us become a better person with age and experience.
