I am a student and I have some questions

This is a bit of a loaded question, but I'll try my best to answer them: These questions are pretty common, so I would recommend searching on this sub to find some other responses. Also, my answers are gonna be pretty short, as there are a lot of them and it takes a while to explain all of them in depth.

  1. Educating myself in political theory. Simply reading some books, and watching video made me reconsider my beliefs, as I was once a libertarian.

  2. This is a tricky question, so I'll tell you what I think, but others have given better a much better answer to this question. Basically, under communism you would work for the betterment of society as a whole. Communism gives you the space to do things that you enjoy, and not only things that you HAVE to do in a capitalist society in order to survive. In theory, living in a communist society you should do things that you wanted to do (and not be alienated from your labour), while at the same time working for your "coworkers" and the rest of society.

  3. Well first off, there is no money in communism, so you wouldn't earn a wage in the traditional sense. But let's say we're still living under socialism, where money still exists. We would strive for a classless society, so a doctor would probably still make a bit more than say a janitor, but it wouldn't be a huge difference. Your wage would be based upon your contribution. So in this sense, a teacher is just as valuable as a surgeon.

  4. That it's a totalitarian system where a dictator holds all power and regular people a killed/live in total poverty. Also, most people that I've met don't understand what socialism and communism are. The vast majority don't even understand that communism hasn't ever been achieved, or that socialism isn't just a welfare state.

  5. Also a hard question to answer, and that answer will differ depending on who you ask, but I'll give you my personal opinion. I liked the USSR under Lenin and Stalin. Less so under Khrushchev and Brezhnev. When these two were in power, the USSR became pretty revisionist. And Gorbachev's reforms largely caused the country to collapse. I disagree with the invasion of Afghanistan, and the Warsaw Pact, because the Soviet economy would just grow to large for it's own good. Cuba is currently my favourite socialist country, and China nowadays is just Capitalist with an authoritarian government that isn't communist in the slightest. I disagree a lot with North Korea and what they do, but I support them in their fight against US imperialism. There are also a lot of lies told about them.

    1. Please refer to these videos: The Notion That Stalin Was A Monster Who Killed Everyone, Mao Zedong - New China, New life. You should also watch more videos from these two channels, as they have a lot of good stuff on these past socialist leaders. You should also Czech out the the Debunking anti communism master post for more information
  6. Refer to the first video above

  7. A big mistake

  8. An enemy of the working people

  9. Yes, Cuba for example as free elections, where everyone 16 and older can vote. In addition, some people, like Salvador Allende, prefer getting elected than wage revolution. These people are "democratic socialists". Also, we communists believe in democracy in the workplace as well, I.E. worker's self management

  10. Depends on who you ask, some believe it can be done through elections, I personally prefer revolution.

  11. Well, the Soviet Union was a pioneer in science and space exploration, for example. Socialist countries as a whole make many advances in fields such as medicine and science

  12. No

  13. Millions of people are poor because of capitalism, especially in the third world.

  14. I don't believe in bourgeoisie elections, but if I had to vote for someone it would be Gloria La Riva of the PSL

Hope that's helpful
