Here's an honest reply, all hostility aside. If you're a target people are going to make you a target for ANY reason. If they hadn't bullied you for being gay they would have found something else. I'm straight yet support my homo friends and even have a pride flag on my car. Some people might think I'm gay some people might think I'm straight, the only ones that need to know are my partners. If people knew you were gay it's because you TOLD them you were. YOU gave them that ammo to use against you.
