Drug trials are a sick, sad joke that don't even vaguely resemble science anymore. So is our handling of prescription medication.

Dear god this has to be satire... In an era where new drugs are coming out every day that significantly improve outcomes from every single disease on the spectrum... an era when life expectancy for previously fatal diseases like CML, Cystic Fibrosis, or HIV infection has expanded by 30-50 years... an era when there is tighter restrictions and regulations on clinical trials then ever before... you can't be this delusional. This isn't just being pessimistic about the current state of things. You literally have no idea what you are talking about. Drug trials cost billions of dollars and often take 10+ years to get a drug on the market. All data on every clinical trial in the country is reported to NIH and these trials must be multi-step, randomized, blinded, large cohort, multi-institutional, controlled studies to ever get a drug approved. To even suggest these trials are not scientific is the biggest joke I have ever heard.

If it were anything but, then the government would have been allowed to negotiate a price - something we've known since like 2,000 BC leads to a lower price. But nope, no negotiation. Just money to the industry, at the price it names.

Negotiations that have been left to be determined by the private industry... Negotiations that have actually slowed down the growth of drug prices... I mean Jesus Christ who is still making this argument anymore? It was relevant when Part D first came out, but it has since been quite clear that the market of individual Part D plans has provided enough competition to slow down the growth of drug prices. But no lets just call a bill that gives grandma the life saving drugs she needs a Bush-led conspiracy to only benefit drug companies...
