An article I wrote on how vim is a great start to learning Linux

I think Vim is an embarrassment for the Linux community. It should be much more user friendly. All the shortcuts should be what you expect from normal software. It shouldn't have such a steep learning curve. It's an old product so it should really have become more user friendly by now. Especially the shortcuts are never what you would expect.

I use Vim every day but I feel I have to say this. It shouldn't be painful to learn how a piece of software works, it should feel natural. But with Vim nothing is natural, ever. It's just a pain.

Having said that, it's better than nothing. I just wish someone would make a more user friendly version of it.
