An open letter to open carriers

When the licensing/carry laws here in Texas changed, it was mostly people who refused to do the LTC course (which is a few hours, and requires the barest bones competency checks on 'can I load and fire this gun') celebrating.

In my life, these were by and large people I didn't, if I'm being honest, want to see carrying a gun. Irresponsible, unsafe, etc.

I'm pretty 2A in general, so I was a bit shocked to find myself lamenting the loss of the regulation - it didn't really make me feel safer to know that Cletus No-teeth Methferson could open carry in the local Dairy Queen, lots of 'whoopsie doodle' drops and holster drops from poor fit and no/poor retention, etc.
