Is my relative correct?

First, shooting steel with 22lr is more dangerous than any other larger caliber. Fear of richochets.

Never heard this, but logically it sounds BS.

Second, no steel cased ammo like tullammo because "it doesnt do well with steel plates"

LOL, OK this is some made up fudd shit, I have shot thousands of steel cased rounds at steel and the plates don't care if the round came from a steel or brass case, the round goes ding if you hit with either.

Third, minimum 15 yards for handguns. I shoot at 10, sometimes 7 with an aggressive angle.

This is the only thing that is a reasonable rule, I personally try to stay 10-12 yards back. But honestly stuff like this is why I shoot alone or with a few people I know on BLM land.
