Anyone have insight into Canadian software market?

It was pretty bad for me. I graduated last May, had loads of phone and in-person interviews, couldn't land anything.

After 6 months, got a job through a cousin's friend that lasted 5 weeks until the boss that hired me ran out of money.

Didn't get hired again until this August, on a 2 week contract with a startup in Toronto that decided not to renew me after.

Then I got hired by a big company here in October, and have been there for about 2 months. Despite the very long hours, the salary is decent, I like my coworkers and the environment.

I have a Computer Science degree, I had a couple internships, and I don't know what it's like in the States, but this shit is kind of hard and won't happen for you overnight, esp. if you got regular grades at a regular school like me. What kept me going was being convinced that there wasn't going to be an easier way to make the same amount of money, and that no opportunity is final or perfect.

I don't know where I'll be at this point next year, but despite the early struggle everything seems to be trending positive now.
