Anyone older play this game? 35 here... got about 700 hours in

  1. Found this game after being forced to retire from contact sports.

Tl:dr - This game has literally saved my life.

From the lingering and untreated effects of concussions I had depression, anxiety, vision issues and a whole bunch of other bs and all the bs that goes along with those 3 bigger symptoms.

Even once I got over the majority of the concussion symptoms, I still had this gaping void in my life once filled by soccer and hockey. That void allowed the depression and anxiety to continue to plague me.

When I played this game during the free weekend in June the first match I played was a competitive dubs match -- sorry to whoever was on my team :-D. Instantly I knew I had found my outlet and my void was filled.

RL gave me focus again. I had goals (being better than everyone else I play), clear ways to improve (rocket league trainer) and none of the bullshit that existed in other games (like Destiny with all its issues).

It gave me a way to prove to myself that I could still be good, get better and push myself to progress... and I very, very much needed that.

Since then, I went from spending at least a couple days a week in bed, all day... or being unable to have 1 on 1 conversations with people or even shop in wal-mart without teetering on the edge of a severe panic attack... to being back to the person I was two years ago (Obviously I've made some other life changes as well, but this game has been a huge part of my recovery).

The 3-5 games of actual soccer and hockey i was playing weekly, be it rec league or an actual league, is now Rocket League time (and unless my wife smacks me too hard, I won't be getting any head injuries playing RL any time soon!)
