Apple removed CSAM Detection from their Child Safety website

So in the 30 decades AV scanners have existed why hasn't the government pressured them to scan for extra stuff.

Um, because they're specifically designed to not phone home and tie your identity to your data? If they were, people would find out about it really quick, and there'd be an uproar. The government can't pressure them to use their apps for anything if the code isn't even there.

This is of course a rhetorical question because there have been numerous allegations that AV products have been doing exactly that. Specifically Kaspersky.

I should mention that I tend to avoid anti-virus software and rely on the built-in solutions. If I knew an app was phoning home and tying my personal data back to my identity, I'd immediately uninstall that product.
