Why are you against Assad?

I also wouldn’t call freedom, democracy, and secularism as “strange values”. In fact Liberals advocate for your equality in western countries, but it seems like you are taking that for granted.

Also muslims do hold important positions around the world.:

-The minister of immigration in Canada is muslim -The mayor of London is muslim. -16 muslim UK Members of Parliament since 2010 -countless muslim lords and barons -6 muslim mps in the european parliament historically -3 muslim mps in the scottish parliament since 2007 -4 muslim mayors in some london bouroughs since 1986 -11 muslim council members and other political figures in england since the 90’s -muslim president of Trinidad and Tobaggo for 10 years -1 muslim senator and 1 mp in australia since 2010 -13 muslim federal MP’s in Canada, belonging to Liberals, Conservatives and NDP since 2001 -16 muslim provincial and 2 municipal MP’s in Canada since 1993 -Muslims in Israel enjoy more civil and social rights than in most arab countries. (Not saying that israel is not an apartheid state, just to show the irony)

The list goes on and on.

Now lets take a look at politics and freedom in islamic dominant countries;

-Saudi Arabia: death penalty for apostasy, non muslims can’t be citizens, oppression of women, death penatly for LGBTQ peopleetc.. -Qatar: women couldn’t vote until 99, neo slavery, death penalty for minor crimes, opression of women, opression of opposition politics -Kuwait: same -Bahrain: same -Oman: same -Iran: same -Pakistan: a bit less extreme but fundamentally the same

The list goes on.

Please do enlighten me on how many non muslims have influence or power in those countries.

Now check this out; If you look at Turkey for example, the liberalization of govt and secularism have allowed them to become a strong and democratic country and economic hub. They were being considered for EU membership before Erdogan brought turkey back into islamic rule and human rights violation.

Now tell me more about human rights, minority rights under islamic rule, and how the rebels are so humane and moderate. And how the infidel west has been persecuting muslims even though the most successful and influential muslims in the world were mostly living under western democracies.

You are also assuming that all muslims in Syria want sharia law, which is not true. Most sunni people I met from Syria are liberal and prefer to practice their ways without imposing it on 23 million people, of which 3 million are non muslim and a larger portion are non practicing or moderate muslims. In fact recent surveys show that an unprecedented amount of Syrians are moving towards atheism and secularism.
